DBH Timeline 2006-2007 Season

Aug. 28-Sept 1 Boot Camps
Sept 6 – 8 Round Robin Play
Sept 8 All pairs and individuals must be registered and deposit paid.
Sept 11-15 Boot Camp and Round Robins available
Sept 15 Teams will be posted by Noon
Sept 18 or 19 Optional Practice (1A’s and 3’s on 9/18; 2’s and 4’s on 9’/19)
Sept 20 or 21 Contract court time (1A’s and 2’s on 9/20 and 3’s and 4’s on 9/21)
Sept 25 First DBH practice (1A’s and 3’s)
Sept 26 First DBH practice (2’s and 4’s)
Sept 27 or 28 Contract court time (1A’s and 2’s on 9/27 and 3’s and 4’s on 9/28)
Week of Oct 9 DBH matches begin

Practice Schedule:

Div 1A: Practice Mondays at 9-11am; play Wednesdays 9am
Div 2: Practice Tuesdays at 9-11am; play Wednesdays 9am
Div 3: Practice Mondays at 11am-1pm; play Thursdays 9am
Div 4: Practice Tuesdays 11am-1pm; play Thursdays 9am

*These practices are optional. Sign up a week in advance and the cost is $27.00. All practices will have a pro on each court and will include stroke work, drills, strategy and play. Home matches will be observed by a pro. Team members are responsible for finding their own subs for both practice and matches.

Match and contract schedule:

1. Team members have a combination league match and contract season.

2. Team members will play 9 home and 9 away matches and 7 contract times. Weeks of contract times: Sept 18, 25, Mar 12, 19, 26, April 2, and 9.

3. Matches start week of Oct 9 th.

4. Payments:

1. Cost for DBH Play is $830 for DBH 1A and 3; $880 for DBH 2 and 4. There are two less practices on Mondays due to holidays. This price includes: practices, matches, contract time, balls, charting home matches and league fees.

2. Payments may be broken down into four installments as follows:

DBH 1A & 3: Total $890: Sept 8 $100 non-refundable deposit; Oct 10 $350, Nov 14 $300, Jan 11 $140

DBH 2 & 4: Total $950: Sept 8 $100 non-refundable deposit; Oct 10 $350, Nov 14 $350, Jan 11 $150

Dear DBH Team Members and Prospective Team members;

Congratulations on a great 2005-2006 seasons. Your play and good sportsmanship set Longfellow Club out as an outstanding member club of the DBH League. With 1AN finishing first in its division and both 4 teams finishing near the top of their division, with 4N in second and 4C in third, it was a very successful season. A heartfelt thanks you to our captains for their time and energy. Their efforts kept out teams organized and moving forward throughout the entire season.

The Longfellow Club will be hosting 7 teams in the2006-2007 season: two 1A’s, a 2, two 3’s and two 4’s. We requested and were given an additional 3 team. Please note that with this additional 3 team, there will be some changes to the practice schedule for next year. Both 1A teams will practice Mondays from 9-11am. Both 3 teams will practice Mondays from 11-1pm. Both 4 teams will practice from 11-1pm on Tuesdays. The 2 team’s practice will be moved to Tuesdays from 9-11am. We realize that some of you will have to adjust your schedules, but this is the only way we could logistically cover the practices. We are hoping that by giving you advanced notice; you will be able to schedule your fall appropriately.

We will continue with the coaches’ choice format. This seemed to work well last year. As most of you know, we sent out a survey regarding allowing individuals or teams to sign up and play DBH. This option has potential to allow the coaches to put together teams that are more cohesive in their skills. Players signing up as individuals would have to accept that coaches will decide where and with whom they will play, as dictated by what is good for the team. With about half of the current DBH players answering the survey, the overwhelming response (almost 90%) agreed with letting individuals sign up for DBH. Based on this information we will allow individual sign-up for the 2006-2007 season. Next spring we will re-evaluate the process and determine if we will continue to use this format.

We have planned several weeks of DBH boot camps and round robin play to help you get a head start on the DBH season. Please see attached timeline for that information. These boot camps and round robins will give the coaches an opportunity to see how your game has improved over the summer and also give them a chance to meet any new players coming in. September 8 th is the deadline for registration for all teams and individuals wishing to play DBH. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at time of registration (Sept 8) and is required to be considered for placement on a DBH team.

Please be sure to sign up and attend boot camps and round robins. They will be a great opportunity to meet new people and get back into the indoor season. Have a great summer. We are looking forward to another fantastic DBH season.
